April 2010

Well, well, well – what a month it’s been.  When we last left you, we were promising news of a new EP.  Sadly we have news of a different kind, in that drummer Micky P has vacated the ‘xine drum stool.  We were very sad to see him go, and wish him lots of success with his new ventures.  So, that sounds like the EP has been put on hold…doesn’t it?  Doesn’t it?  Well, there you are in fact wrong!  Mwahahaha.  At first Kate and Taz thought they might just record some of the new songs in the electro-acoustic style (more on that later) but it turns out that you’re still going to get a full-on electric head-banging new Ultraxine single.  “How is this possible?” we hear you ask.  Well, dear readers, you’ll never guess – but we’ve only gone and managed to coax our old drummer, good friend and all round great guy Rick ‘the dude’ Steckles out of his drumming retirement and back on to the drum stool to record the single with us.  Hurrah!  We’re not sure how many tracks we’ll get laid down yet, but rest assured that Danger of Death will be in your ears by the Summer, as originally planned.  Three cheers for Rick!

So we ARE searching for a permanent drummer, but you’ll not be without a new fix of ‘xine in the meantime.  AND, getting back to the electro-acousti madness, the girls have been rehearsing the songs without a drummer, and might just make an appearance (under a pseudonym) at a gig venue near you sometime soon.  Ooooooh, how mysterious…

We’ll keep you posted, as ever

Album News, Band News and General updating

Taking Sweets from Strangers; Ultraxine

‘Ello everyone!

Sorry it’s been a while since we posted any news up here – but we’ve been such busy bees that we don’t always remember to update everything. The BEST news is that our first album, “Taking Sweets From Strangers” is out now on Amazon.com, and will be out very shortly on iTunes AND as an actual-real hold-in-your-hand disc version too. As soon as WE have the discs in our hands, we will let you know how you can order one.

The sad news is that Rick has decided he is no longer able to drum for Ultraxine as he has lots of other musical endeavours and can not give us the full-time attention that he would like to. We thank him MUCHLY for his contribution to the album and we wish him well in his musical studies.

SO…we will be advertising for a drummer very shortly (anyone interested should drop us an email on ultraxine@gmail.com) but in the meantime we have been doing a few acoustic rehearsals, and plan to take the acousti-punk versions of our songs on the road over the next few months whilst we are temporarily drummer-less.

Don’t forget for more regular updates you can read our MySpace blog, which this week features the answer to a very important philosophical question. And also do check back here – now we’ve remembered we have a website we might actually remember to update it more often!

Take care and rock lots

Taz and Kate
