Rockin’ in the new year!
Posted by Kate | Filed under Music, Rock
Hey everyone!
New Years are upon us all – the weather’s got that “it might be summer soon” feel about it, and we’ve made our own little resolutions too!
The good news is that we’re now booking gigs for 2010, we’ll be recording some more and by the end of the year, the world will be dominated by teabags and ROCK.
2010 has a bit of an epic feel about it and like a workaholic newsreader, we’ll bring you the latest as soon as we can!
See you rather soon!
Back in the studio!

Yes…after a short (ish) break to allow for Taz to recover from giving birth (it was a boy by the way!) Ultraxine are hitting the rehearsal studio on 19th December for the first time since August. There will be much rocking, rolling, rehearsing, and no doubt general plotting for the recording of the “Danger of Death” EP. Stay tuned for news!

Wakefield and Brighton
Posted by taz | Filed under Music
Hi everyone
First of all just wanted to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who came and saw us at Wakefield. We had a brilliant time and really enjoyed our set. Thanks to Shield of Steel and GMT for having us on the bill. The good news for those of you who couldn’t make it is that the extremely talented Trudi Knight from Bandsonstage took some great photos of the evening – which we’ll hopefully get up on the website over the next couple of days for your viewing pleasure!
Of course next on the agenda is Brighton, where we’ll be playing the new “pop” set which features some old favourites and some previously unheard songs at the Brighton Bash. It’s an all day event being held at The Latest Music Bar on Saturday August 15th. It’s only £5 in and there’s LOADS of bands on the bill – and it’s all for charity! We’ll be on stage somewhere between 6pm and 6.30pm, but if you get yourselves down there in the afternoon there will be a whole load of fun to be had before we even take to the stage. See you there.
July gig news
Posted by taz | Filed under Gigs
Hi everyone!
This weeks very exciting news is that we’ve just confirmed a slot for Fridy 10th July at DNE in Wakefield. We’ll be on stage at 7.45pm, opening for Shield of Steel and GMT. Those of you with long memories might remember that Bernie Tormé from GMT produced our album last year, so we’re thrilled to bits to play this one. Massive thanks go to Shield of Steel for getting us on the bill.
Apart from that we’re really busy trying to book MORE dates, so if you’re able to offer us a slot between now and August, or from December onwards then get in touch!
Keep rocking…
Gig Time
Posted by Kate | Filed under Uncategorized
Eek, it’s May already – time flies when you’re having fun!
We’ve been up to lots recently – including some very big news (but that’s for later!) and practicing and writing like practicing and writing demons (if ever there was such a thing), and booking some Summertime gigs!
The first gig we’re happy to announce is that we’re playing at the fabulous Burning Brighton Bash – which looks like it will be our last gig of the summer. So if you’re up for a bit of a laugh, some Brighton Rock (both sweet and rocking!), some happy times and some fundraising for a very deserving cause, please come and support us and all of the other bands on the bill – it looks like it’s going to be an absolute corker!
We’re so happy to be playing this festival – as it’s been set up in honour of a great friend and music lover, who sadly passed away in recent times. But it’s excellent to see that her love of music and of bringing people together is living on!
For further details please visit our Gigs page.
And now for the reason that it will be our last gig for a wee while – at this gig, Taz will be 8 months pregnant! Lets hope that all those bass frequencies and rocking out don’t persuade her baby to want to come and join the fun at the gig..!
We will be taking a little time out so that Taz (and her husband Paul) can enjoy the fruits of their, er, labour. And teach the baby some harmonies!
That’s it for now – we’ll have some more gig dates for you soon though. Keeeeeeeep rocking!
New Drummer!
Posted by taz | Filed under Gigs
Hello – good news everyone! We’ve found a drummer, Micky, who’s come all the way from Hungary to play in Ultraxine! Ok, that’s not quite true, but he is from Hungary, and he does now play in Ultraxine. So it’s nearly true. So that’s very exciting news – we’ve had a couple of rehearsals and the songs are sounding great – Micky’s ace drum skills have brought a new punky edge to them, so we’re really pleased with how it’s all going – and hopefully we’ll soon be ready to unleash the rock on the masses and play a few gigs.
In the meantime, we are playing another acoustic set (that’s just Kate and Taz with their acoustic guitars) at the Cardigan Arms, next Thursday, March 5th. We’ll be on stage at 8.15pm so get there early. Our last acoustic slot had a good review from Sandman Magazine and it will most likely be our last Northen acousitic gig for a while – so basically come down and see us while you have the chance!
Album News

Hey everyone – great news! Our debut album, “Taking Sweets From Strangers” is now officially OUT. As we’ve previously mentioned, you can download it from ITunes or Amazon.com or Rhapsody or Napster or eMusic…and now we also have bright shiny disc versions too! Hurrah!
The discs are available for £10 if you stop us in the street and buy one (or more likely at a gig) or for £11.50 if you’d like us to post one direct to your door – just think of that – ten wondrous Ultraxine songs all without having to leave the comfort of your own couch. You can order the disc from the clever ‘buy it now’ widget on our MySpace and we’ll get an equally clever widget on this website as soon as possible.
In the mean time, feel free to use the button below for now…
Take care and rock muchly

Album News, Band News and General updating
Posted by taz | Filed under Album, Rick

‘Ello everyone!
Sorry it’s been a while since we posted any news up here – but we’ve been such busy bees that we don’t always remember to update everything. The BEST news is that our first album, “Taking Sweets From Strangers” is out now on Amazon.com, and will be out very shortly on iTunes AND as an actual-real hold-in-your-hand disc version too. As soon as WE have the discs in our hands, we will let you know how you can order one.
The sad news is that Rick has decided he is no longer able to drum for Ultraxine as he has lots of other musical endeavours and can not give us the full-time attention that he would like to. We thank him MUCHLY for his contribution to the album and we wish him well in his musical studies.
SO…we will be advertising for a drummer very shortly (anyone interested should drop us an email on ultraxine@gmail.com) but in the meantime we have been doing a few acoustic rehearsals, and plan to take the acousti-punk versions of our songs on the road over the next few months whilst we are temporarily drummer-less.
Don’t forget for more regular updates you can read our MySpace blog, which this week features the answer to a very important philosophical question. And also do check back here – now we’ve remembered we have a website we might actually remember to update it more often!
Take care and rock lots
Taz and Kate

New Website (and some tea)
Posted by Kate | Filed under Kate, Music, Tea

Hi!
Welcome to our new home on the web. Please feel free to either bookmark us, with the little favourites bar thingamy doo doo, or subscribe to our feed (if you’re more technologically minded, that is!) to keep up to date with all things Ultraxine!
This inaugural posting wouldn’t be the same without a picture – here’s some fun Tea Bag sort of activity, from when we visited the studio recently to put some finishing touches to our album! Much tea was consumed. We like tea, and we also like music. But primarily tea. No, music. Oh dear.
Anyway, time to sign off. See you soon – and have fun!
Kate, Taz and Rick
